Easter weekend on the Buffalo
My wife and I will be paddling and fishing the Buffalo Friday and Saturday, putting in at Kyles Landing, camping on the river, and then taking out at Ozark Campground. It's a nice 11 mile float. I will be in a green Mohawk Oddysee Solo and my wife is paddling a blue Dagger Axis kayak. Say hi if you ...

Re: Eureka Springs
There is a group of us going up to Eminence, Mo. April 20 - 24 to camp and paddle the Current and Jacks Fork rivers if you will be here by then. I'll be taking a buddy up from Eureka that Fri. and come back on Sun. if you're interested in coming along. Mostly folks from the Ark. Canoe Club, and all...

Re: Eureka Springs
Hi YakJoe. I live in Eureka Springs and I too enjoy floating and fishing. I paddle a Mohawk Oddessey 14 Solo and my wife paddles a Dagger Axis. We enjoy the Kings River (close by), War Eagle Creek, and of course the Buffalo. We just paddled the Kings this past Wed. and the water was running good, bu...

Re: JACKS FORK, ELEVEN POINT, CURRENT APRIL 20- 24
Hi Louis, The trip to Eminence sounds good. I also will try to make it. I just met up with Minna today in Conway. She bought my Mohawk Solo 13, so she will have a new toy to play with up there that weekend. Sounds like a lot of the same folks from the Kyles campground last Fall will be there. I als...

Re: Whitewater and Fear
I think pushing ourselves from our comfort zones allows us to grow and experience new joys in life. However, this must be within reason. That reason comes from getting as much info and education on the subject as you can first, and being honest with ourselves of our physical abilities before attemp...

Mohawk Solo 13 For Sale
This was a boat purchased new for my wife in the Fall of last year. She had back surgery and has decided that a kayak would be easier for her to handle. It is red in color and has only been in calm water 4 or 5 times with minor scratches. It is Royalex and retails for $746. I am asking $600. I am i...

Re: CURRENT & JACKS FORK OCT 16 - 20
Hey Louis, Chris here from Eureka Springs. I wish I could make it, but having to pick and choose my weekend events. I'm planning on helping out on the lower Buffalo with the cleanup on the 16th, then will actually be camping in Eminence on the 21st through 23rd with wife's relatives at the big hors...

Re: New to solo paddling.
I bought both the Mohawk Odyssey 14 and the Solo 13 for my wife and me. Like you, I like to take camping gear along. Both are light weight and will give you the room for gear. I personnally prefer a canoe over yak to sit up higher and carry gear. Obviously the 13 with the shorter length will be more...

Re: Canoe Camping
I've also been looking to do some canoeing camping on the Buffalo. I would love to get out there this weekend but the water levels have been all over the place. I was thinking about doing a one nighter, maybe putting in at Erbie or Ozark and taking out at Hasty. I will have some unexperienced canoe...

Re: BUFFALO RIVER - MAY 13-15 2011
Hey Louis, thanks for the welcome. I will plan on meeting you at kyles on Fri. night. I am driving a green Ford SportTrac and bringing a complimenting green Mohawk solo canoe. As far as shuttling, I can carry two boats on my roof rack, but can also bring a trailer that carries 4 more boats if needed...
