Eureka Springs
Eureka Springs
I am moving to Eureka in a few weeks and I am a Kayak fisherman. I am hoping to find someone in the area to show me some places or maybe give me advice. I have a couple a Heritage SOT and a Jeep that should get me just about anywhere I hope.
Anyway if anyone could help thanks

Re: Eureka Springs
Three easy choices: Beaver Lake; White River from just below Beaver Dam to Bertrand or on to the town of Beaver; Kings River almost anywhere from above the Hwy 221 Bridge to Stoney Point on the highway to Grandview. Or even on to Table Rock Lake for fishing.
Lucky you, moving to Eureka! I started paddling while I lived there, in Kings River, from the Hwy 62 bridge (ample parking) to Stony Point, (a F&G takeout). I'm still up there pretty often but haven't got to float in a while. (Lots of folks in Eureka don't have cars.)
Good luck. Have fun! (If you happen to check out the bars/food, Chelsea's has great food upstairs & good music real often.)

I'm about 18 miles south of E.S. My days off are Monday and Tuesday. I'm usually fishing on the creek atleast one of those days (if not both). If you can make it on either a Monday or a Tuesday let me know and we'll hit the War Eagle or the Kings.
Re: Eureka Springs
Hi YakJoe. I live in Eureka Springs and I too enjoy floating and fishing. I paddle a Mohawk Oddessey 14 Solo and my wife paddles a Dagger Axis. We enjoy the Kings River (close by), War Eagle Creek, and of course the Buffalo.
We just paddled the Kings this past Wed. and the water was running good, but a little muddy and fast for much fishing. However, I did manage to pull in a fairly nice Smallie. Where are you moving in from? What are you going to be doing in Eureka? Feel free to give me a call if you would like. I have the Edward Jones Investment office in town. My ofc. # is 253-7800.

Hey guys thanks for the response me and my wife are moving there from Dallas in about 30 days if everything works out. We are purchasing a local hotel. My days off will be moday and tuesday. She likes to go with me and take pics about half the time. I like to fish for LMB and we have a 12 and 10 foot heritage redfishies SOT's.
Re: Eureka Springs
There is a group of us going up to Eminence, Mo. April 20 - 24 to camp and paddle the Current and Jacks Fork rivers if you will be here by then. I'll be taking a buddy up from Eureka that Fri. and come back on Sun. if you're interested in coming along. Mostly folks from the Ark. Canoe Club, and all good folks who enjoy camping and paddling. Eminence is about 5 hours from Eureka Springs just south of Rolla, Mo.. Both rivers are spring fed and run year around. By the way, I don't know if you have heard, but we have been having a rash of motel fires lately. Had another one just today!

I'm not sure if you could find a better place to live if you like yak fishing.yakjoe wrote:Hey guys thanks for the response me and my wife are moving there from Dallas in about 30 days if everything works out. The white river near beaver has bass & trout. Kings river is great for fishing too!
Buffalo has you covered on the "Oh my God" scenery aspect and if you ever find yourself poking into white water, we have plenty of that too.
Congrats! Eureka rules.

Yeah I know about the fires, I assume the new fire is real close the the last one right. I will not be able to go out on the weekends of course since I will be busy. Never thought I would leave my beloved Texas but you gotta do what you gotta do and well there a lot worse places right? I hope mine did not burn down LOL, I cant say which hotel it is yet due to it is not a done deal yet.
The area sure looks nice and we are really looking forward to it.

Welcome to the Natural State (soon any way) Joe. Nothing to add really except I hope to run across you on the water some time. There's really an embarrassment of riches in Arkansas when it comes to great water, scenery and fishing. Glad you plan to be out enjoying it as soon as you're able. Hope the transaction goes the way you want.
You come too.

Re: Eureka Springs
Ok I am getting closer hope to be there in 30 days now. I guess I am going to have to get an Arkansas DL before I can get a fishing lic right? I know that is the rules here in Texas, that is going to slow me down. Well at least I can get on the water and paddle just dont take a rod which will of course be hard but I dont want to break any laws in my new state.
