Re: Cadron Strainer

Yeah, I bumped into part of that going through there. Seems to always be a big pile of something at that spot.

Re: Trees down on Cadron Creek

We had to portage around the first tree down from Pinnicle Springs, the one around the blind curve. The water was at 3.3. You can barely see the downed tree at the top of this photo.

Re: Cadron Creek Update

We floated from Pinnicle Springs to Hwy 65 today with the water level at 3.3. We had to portage around a tree at the second rapid. We couldn't go over the tree in the S-turn rapid, but the water was deep enough to take a branch around it on the right.

Re: Cadron Creek Update

My son and I floated that stretch today at 2.1 and we could get under all of them but the last one. The water was too low to float around so we had to portage on the left side.

I had to look at google maps to see, locals just refer to it as Pinnicle Springs Road. But, yes, it's Highway 310.

Re: Cadron Creek on the menu today

My son and I floated from Pinnacle Springs to Hwy 65 yesterday. First time I have ever floated the Cadron in August ... usually you can ford the Cadron in August and never get your feet wet.

Re: Cadron too low to float right now?

We floated the Cadron Sunday Feb 24th when it was at reported 3.7 ft at Guy. We did Pinnicle Springs to Hwy 65 . . . water was great. Although there are some bald eagles that hang out at a lake behind nearby Guy city hall, we got our first bald eagle sighting on the Cadron on this float. Beautiful s...

Re: Reduction of visitor services on the Buffalo River

Looks like the powers that be are making it as difficult as they can for the public instead of making management decisions that lessen the impact of a very small percentage decrease in the planned increase of money they get. That's exactly what they are doing. There is no reason to clos...

Back when there was a steel bridge there the locals called it the "Boogaloosa" bridge. Some still call it that even after the Highway Department built the new bridge a few years ago.

Re: Cadron too low to float right now?

Cadron is finally back up to floating levels intermittenly. Took the short float from Pinnicle Springs to Hwy 65 today, with the guage at Guy showing 3 feet. Until recently, the last time it was floatable, it seems, was back in early April.

Re: USGS says fracking not affecting ground water in AR

I used to think that most "environmentalist" were a bunch of tree hunging fruit cakes . . . until they put a three well frac pad on my neighbors property about 400 yards from my home. They don't make good neighbors. I can no longer sit out on my deck and enjoy the rural lifestyle I've enjo...

We got over it at 2.5 on Sunday. Will be tricky if much lower.

Re: Buffalo trip March 25 27?

Just got back (March 20th) from a two day float from Steele Creek to Pruit Landing. Water was at the low end of floatable on this section. Not quite to the point of dragging but a lot of bottom bumping.

Re: Cadron Saturday

Four of us floated from Pinnicle Springs to Hwy 65 Saturday and the water was great.

The only down side was it was too short . . . I miss the Weidower access, that was the perfect day float on the Cadron in my opinion.

Re: Somewhat Offtopic- Gasland Documentary shown Tuesday, Conway

You can watch it free at the link below. Personally, I think it's criminal the way the gas/oil companies treat the local residents. Similar to what is shown in Gasland, I have had first hand experiance of trying to have a common sense conversation with one of the companies operating in Faulkner Coun...
