Re: Drysuit brands pro and cons?

Any drysuit is better than no drysuit. I just have one thing to say. If you are planning on using that drysuit in Arkansas, know that we are totally rain dependent. This means that typically we are paddling in the rain or just after a heavy rain and the dew points are always pretty high. A "bre...

Re: Trip Report from the Buffalo My Stupid Story

If you spend enough time on the river you will see and experience some strange stuff. I knew where the story was going before I even finished reading. Had a similiar experience at Lake Nimrod. Drove into primative campsite via a old Jeep trail. Set up camp and got into the adult beverages before not...

Re: Need help with canoeing trip...

If you want to party go to Spring River. If you want to have a beautiful, nice and relaxing float on Memorial Day Weekend go to the Buffalo. More specifically, if you have your own boats put in at Mt. Hershey and float down.(Not many outfitters service that area of the river because the shuttle is s...

Re: OT: Hiking to Glory Hole

Cliff, Between the first and second Hollow on river right(I think) is a crack in the rock very similiar to a slot canyon. Shoulder wide about 50' deep and 100' back into the rock. It is on the elevated bluff line, not down in the creek. Very neat place. Richard is right, there is no hiking trail dow...

Re: OT: Hiking to Glory Hole

Don't stop at the Glory Hole. All of Dismal Creek is beautiful, full of waterfalls, bluffs, Indian shelter caves and weirdo rock formations. Hike down another mile and check out the first three hollows on river right.

Re: Hot Springs Creek / Gulpha Gorge ?

Gulpha Gorge is a step up. Somebody lost a paddle on it the last time I ran it. Today is pretty warm though and the railroad tracks offer a walk out option if things are not going your way.

Re: Hot Springs Creek / Gulpha Gorge ?

Well they got about .8 of a inch of rain and usually it is enough to get those two rolling. They drop out pretty fast though. This afternoon would be good.

Also looks like Snow Creek should be going. I'm ready to go, just need a somebody to go with.

Re: Trimming Gaskets

Jim is right, The only thing worse is if a person just tried to stretch it out and not wearing before putting on. Then about a mile or two down the Illinois Bayou and the lack of circulation to the brain makes your head look like a pimple about to pop. Then your mean friends telling, you your having...

Re: Most OVERRATED stream in Arkansas

Oh the drama, Guys I just can't be convinced that Big Piney is not a barrell of fun. From the Helton's Farm experience all the way down to twin bridges it is a great time. Especially when you have a floatilla of over a dozen rafts or just a couple of yaks. Catch it low at 3'- and it is a great alter...
