I got sleep so I'm good to go. I'll be leaving Rogers between approx 9:30 so will be at Turner Bend approx 11. I'll call you wojack approx 9am to see if I need to keep driving down to the White Oak station. I don't drive South of Turner bend that often so I don't recall that station. I have a committment from 8 to 8:45 that I have to take care of first before I can leave town.

Okay, everything's clear(er) now. I'll be at White Oak at 11AM.

Mike, the White Oak gas station/store is 9.9 miles south of Turner Bend on Hwy. 23. We're meeting there because we're accessing the put-in and take-out from the SOUTH side of the river. Anything you read in Tom's book for that section references north side access.

Well Eric, let's do some math:

Meet at 11:00. Be on the river by noon. paddle 5.5 mi. @ 2 MPH (5.5/2)=2.75 hrs. Add 1.25 hours for lunch and playing. Add an hour for post-shuttle. Add one hour for travel back to Springdale.

2.75+1.25+1+1=6 hours. Noon + 6 hours=6PM. Yep, it looks like it could work if my assumptions are correct.

Even if you're late, it's easier to get forgiveness than permission, right?

brad,

golly gee i didn't know you wuz a statistician. thems some real good math skillz. as far as being late it won't work. i have to pick up my son so my hard working wife can go to an appreciation dinner.

it breaks my heart to kayak while she works and watches our son. but i guess i will be one heartbroken man this afternoon.

i did already do some house cleaning though, so that should help if i am late.

Have fun, gents. With rain coming in I decided to take advantage of the currently dry ground to do some needed work at home.

Any of you NWA folks that can't/don't want to go to the Mulberry, I might be headed to Fishers this afternoon for a bit.

Just to bring closure to this topic given the amount of somewhat chaotic discussion that went on, Eric, Jack, Mike, and I had a good time paddling together on this warm, sunny, February day.

Yes, it was a good time and seeing as I don't have to be at work until 4pm tomorrow I may do an early float tomorrow too!

I can help Grant. You put on the river upstream of Kings's Ford/Hole and then paddle, downstream, until you get there. Duh!

Seriously, missed being out with you fellers today. Tom B and I were working on plumbing issues at my place and almost ditched it to join you on the river more than once. What a beautiful day!!!!

Dang!

Good times. Most disorienting shuttle on the Mulberry I ever ran. Accessing from the South side...it never crossed my mine before.

Thanks to Jack...our lower Mulberry river & shuttle guide! What a beautiful day! I couldn't begin to explain how to get back to that access, though...other than "meet Jack at the white oak station" & follow & use the GPS to get back to Rogers :-)

here is what I remember of the shuttle. go west on the road that turns off 23 by the white oak store. The put in is reached of Cravens road I think. It is just before a church. maybe a penticostal. turn noth. at the first intersection take a left. stay on it until if crosses a jethro lower i think. the road dead ends in the river.

the take out at Kings Hole is reached by driving to the next road past the church. turn right, or north, I blieve its name is something Oak. i believe you stay on the ? oak road at any intersection until you see a road on the left that has a natural gas well right at the corner. take the left and go a very short distance until you turn right into a bunch of cedar trees that look like they are encasing the road. go slow and steady and it runs into the river.

I could get back there if i needed to, but i am sure that these directions are not going to help anybody else.

you can reach the put in by taking the lower jethro road off of 23. it would be faster that way and more paved road. I know because that is the road I took out per Jacks instructions.

I had a good time. it was nice to see that part of the mulberry. I will say that I will probably stay in the upper sections in the future. easier shuttle and shorter pools.
