Mulberry Thursday 2/18 Milton's Ford??
I'm off work Thursday & given the forecast may be interested in the Mulberry since it looks like the only thing that might be available.
Is Milton's Ford considered private property & off limits now? We did Milton's to Campbell cemetery back in 2007 at 2.2-2.3 ft at Turner Bend and it was a lot of fun & it's a pretty short run.
I won't make final plans until early Thursday morning.

I will probably be up for it. Would you be willing to go on down to King's hole? It's about twice the distance as to Campbells. I don't think Milton's Ford is considered private. At least no one is enforcing it that way to my knowledge. But I haven't paddled from there since mid January.
Aw! It's just rocks and water! What could go wrong?
Re: Mulberry Thursday 2/18 Milton's Ford??
I'd be up for a Milton's to King's run (Milton's to Campbell is a little too short for me).
Let me know what the meeting time and place is when y'all decide. I'm not too familiar with the lower part of the river so I might need directions, too.

I believe that the land around Milton's is private and they have posted the property with purple paint. Wouldn't think it would be a problem to park by the creek this time of year as long as you pull far enough off of the road that you don't block it.
I usually go ahead and pull up onto the forest service road and just park there anyway.
Have fun!

We could meet at the White Oak Store on Hwy 23. Say 10 or 11. That way we'd have time to run shuttle and be on the water when it's getting warmed up.

11:00 AM at White Oak works for me.
Will we be accessing the put-in and take-out from the south side of the river? I'm only familiar with the north side.

We'll be going to the side of Milton that you can get to from either Lower Jethro Road off of 23 or... the road that goes beside Rehobeth Church off of the Wire Road (also off of 23) If my brain is working right that's the South side.

Re: Mulberry Thursday 2/18 Milton's Ford??
I'm planning on going but will make final decision in AM since I'm on call today/tonight.
I'm familiar with Milton's (access is on North side of river) but not familiar with King's hole/run. What does that compare to in Kennon's book: Hell Roaring Falls, Spirits Creek entering??? How far downstream of Campbell's is it & how is the access?
By my count Milton's to Campell's is approx 2 miles so if as you say King's hole is that far down again total run is approx 4 miles? So if we were moving we could do that in approx 2 hours??. If we put on around noon & took off around 2 or 3 pm that would work for me.
I'll PM you guys my cell#.

I saw the discussion on King's hole at http://ns13.webmasters.com/*arkansascan ... 5&start=30" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
but still not sure I know where that is. Since I'll be coming from the North could we meet at Turner Bend at 11 am? I may be running a few minutes late possibly as late as 11:30 depending on how quick I can get out of town. Will touch base in AM.

Re: Mulberry Thursday 2/18 Milton's Ford??
I looked at the map but the only "Kings" reference I see is King's Ford around river mile 32.5. Milton's is arond 24.5 so that distance (8 mi.) doesn't jibe with wojack's post. Hell Roaring Falls is about 4 miles from Milton's but i don't see an access around it except possibly Bibbs Ford around mile 28.
I'm confused. Somebody look at the attached map (click on it to make it larger) and 'splain it to me including how we get to the put in and take out.

Re: Mulberry Thursday 2/18 Milton's Ford??
Kennon's book refers to muddy road access somewhere near where Spirits Creek flows into the Mulberry but it's 4 miles downstream of Campell's.
Given weather, daylight, shuttle, familiarity, & family issues I'd prefer a quick run from Milton's to Campbell's with maybe a little access scouting by a 4x4 afterwards to plan for next time but I don't want to be odd man out. I'd hate to miss a take out & push our limits.
With play I've stretched this run out easily to 2-3 hours.

I'm interested, but I don't know where the spots are that you guys are talking about. I've gone from some place to Campbells 2-3 years ago.
Clearer directions, please? I'm coming from Fay.

Ok, my bad on the earlier post. Bibb's Ford is halfway to King's Hole from Milton's Ford. King's Hole is just around the corner from Coon's Foot.

Re: Mulberry Thursday 2/18 Milton's Ford??
King's Hole is right around the 30 mile marker. I've been there countless times on the road camping and paddling, so there's no worry about missing the take out. I've just never really looked it up on the map before. You can get there in a two wheel drive, you just have to park at the top of the hill. It's a short carry to the water. 150 yards or so. I'd love to go on down to it because, well... Hell's roaring falls is my favorite rapid on the lower part of the river. How many people are coming from Fay? White Oak Store is just down at the bottom of 23 a few miles before Hwy 40 and it's right on the road that we'll be going down to get to the access points.
