cracked boat

Post by smcurtis » Wed Aug 13, 2008 4:07 pm

Monday, while running Sugar Creek, I put a nasty crack on the side of my Necky Crux. The crack is about 8 inches long and located on the left side below the cockpit. Does anyone has any idea on how difficult this crack would be to weld and how strong the weld would be? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

nasty crack, cut a long but thin piece of plastic from cockpit rim about 12 inches long for filler and use a heat gun like a body and fender guy would have like a heavy duty hair drier. and you will see the plastic start to change colors and then it will start to get liquid add a little filler and move on. It is plastic welding at it finest.

Wow, that's 2 cracked boats on Sugar Creek for the week. Sorry it happenned to you, but it can be fixed.

I bought a plastic welder and welded up my i3 before I took it to Colorado. It turned out very well. The crack was right under my seat, but it is solid now. I also ran it down Sugar Creek, it's bomber.

Are you close to Fort Smith? I can show you how to do it, or let you use my plastic welder...
