INTRO TO PADDLING CLINIC (8/16) - REGISTRATION NOW CLOSED!
Hi everyone!
Registration for the Introduction to Paddling Clinic on August 16th at Lake Ouachita State Park is now OPEN!
All the details about what, when, where, how much, etc. as well as how to submit your registration can be found HERE!
I'm still looking for volunteers to help teach for the day as well, so let me know if you are available!
More questions? Want to volunteer? I can be reached at paddlingclinic@arkansascanoeclub.com.
EDITED TO ADD: Please note that I'll be offline from Friday evening to Sunday evening (7/18 to 7/20), so if you have a question and do not hear back from me during that time, I will get back to you Sunday night or Monday! Thank you!
Cheers,
Heather aka Lupe

Hey folks! 2 Weeks until the Intro Clinic and I still have plenty of space for participants! Great way to learn all the basics, try different boats, etc.
This clinic is great for you if:
* you think you want to get involved with paddling, but aren't quite sure - there's so many choices! You don't even need to have a kayak or canoe to sign up - come and get seat time in a boat and learn the basics and you'll be a much more knowledgeable shopper as you look for your first boat purchase!
* you just got a kayak and canoe and are having a great time, but haven't had any formal instruction or lessons. Come learn the basics which will help keep you safe, and also up your enjoyment by helping you use proper techniques to make paddling easier!
* you just got a whitewater boat and are looking forward to the School of Whitewater Paddling in the spring: don't wait to get your basic strokes down! If you can get your strokes dialed in and learn flatwater drills to be practicing now, you will be in WAY better position for learning on moving water at the Whitewater School. We will put whitewater boats together in groups that will help you learn and prepare for "next steps"!
This will be a fun, laid back day at Lake Ouachita...check it out and/or tell family and friends about it!
Cheers,
Heather aka Lupe

Registration has really picked up, but I still have some more slots available. If you've been saying you were going to sign up...now's the time to do it!!!

We've had a just awesome response over the past week! It's going to be a lot of fun at the lake introducing a lot of new folks to canoeing and kayaking!
It's going to be quite a big group, but I'll take a few more IF you can get me your registration no later than Tuesday night. REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE AT THE END OF THE DAY ON TUESDAY!
For those who have signed up, I'll be sending everyone an email with final details and reminders before the weekend, but let me go ahead and announce a couple items now here on the board...
Slight location change! We are still meeting at Lake Ouachita State Park, but we're moving the group to Camp Area A/Walk In Tent Area. Still head to Lake Ouachita State Park on 227, but now after you enter the park, look for a turn on the left for Camp Area A/Walk In Tent Area. This left turn is BEFORE you get to the 4 way stop at the Visitor Center (so if you reach the 4 way stop, turn around – you’ve gone too far!). Turn into Camp Area A and drive through the campground to the Walk In Tent Area. We will have an Arkansas Canoe Club banner set up at the turn off of 227 and also at the campsite where we are meeting, so you shouldn’t have any problem finding us. If you are GPS-inclined, go here: N 34.61359 / W 093.17965.
Bring a camp chair! Please bring a camp chair/folding chair so you'll have someplace to sit for our onshore group meeting and for lunch.
THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE WHO HAS VOLUNTEERED AND WHO HAS SIGNED UP FOR THIS EVENT!
Cheers,
Heather aka Lupe

I must say Heather, I think everyone I visited with today had just a fine time. Thank you for a tremendous clinic! I thoroughly enjoyed my students today as well as the usual camaraderie and support of member friends.
A special thanks to all of the students for their efforts and travel!
Best Regards
