Looking for canoe and advice.

I thru hiked the AT last year, and frankly, been going out of my mind with boredom since. Got interested in canoeing and would like to buy a good used canoe and learn some things in hopes of preparing for a long river trip in the future. The Wenonah Spirit II is interesting to me, but I'm really a neophyte on the subject. I think I want a tandem touring canoe since my girlfriend will accompany me, and one that is light enough to portage. Maybe 17' ?

I've been introduced to the sticker shock of new ones. Wow! I know that some of you paddlers have multiple canoes. Maybe one sitting in the garage that you'd be willing to part with? I'm willing to pay a fair price for a good used one.

Otherwise, I'm open to any advice and would appreciate any info that would broaden my knowledge on the subject.

Hey - I'm located in Memphis. Was kind of hoping to find something w/i a few hours of here, but pickings are slim so NWA isn't out of the question.
