Looking for canoe and advice.

Post by rougarou » Fri Aug 05, 2016 9:47 pm

I thru hiked the AT last year, and frankly, been going out of my mind with boredom since. Got interested in canoeing and would like to buy a good used canoe and learn some things in hopes of preparing for a long river trip in the future. The Wenonah Spirit II is interesting to me, but I'm really a neophyte on the subject. I think I want a tandem touring canoe since my girlfriend will accompany me, and one that is light enough to portage. Maybe 17' ?

I've been introduced to the sticker shock of new ones. Wow! :wht: I know that some of you paddlers have multiple canoes. Maybe one sitting in the garage that you'd be willing to part with? I'm willing to pay a fair price for a good used one.

Otherwise, I'm open to any advice and would appreciate any info that would broaden my knowledge on the subject.

Thanks!

Hey Todd,

Where are you located? I can help out on all fronts, but only if you are local or willing to travel to NWA.

I say, and I intend it emphatically, let the river be.

Hey - I'm located in Memphis. Was kind of hoping to find something w/i a few hours of here, but pickings are slim so NWA isn't out of the question. Besides, seems that there are some great rivers there. Would love to know what you have in mind. If you'd like, contact me via email. todd_melancon@yahoo.com.

Thanks for the response. Todd
