If you would like to test your recently learned skills from ww school on the Cossatot, with some additional support, read on! The Cossatot "Maiden Voyage" is planned for Saturday, May 16 if water levels allow.
Please contact Heather (aka Lupe) by e-mail (membership@arkansascanoeclub.com) to get your name on the list and get details about meeting times and places. I will need to hear from people that are interested so that we have enough support boaters for the trip and to ensure that you have the skills and equipment necessary for the trip. I will send individual questionnaires to participants to assess skills and equipment and will reserve the right to ask an individual to not participate if in our opinion they are not prepared.
Also everyone will be required to sign an ACA waiver which I will send in advance to ensure that each person has “time to consider the risk” before signing the waiver. There will be a $5 fee for non American Canoe Association members (that's the ACA which is not the same as the Arkansas Canoe Club!) to cover the cost of insurance. You will need your ACA number on the day of the event to avoid this charge.
We have already had a great response from volunteers who will be our support crew, but if you are a Cossatot veteran and haven't contacted us about helping, please reach out to Chris Handley (Chris.Handley@terracon.com) and let him know if we can add you to our list.
As in past years, further details about the trip will not be posted as we need to manage the number of participants according to the number of support crew we have committed for the day. Further info will be shared with those who contact Chris or myself via email.
Cheers,
Heather (aka Lupe)

but you'll never catch me complaining about too much of that southern rain.
