Paddling

Post by jdblake » Sun Jan 04, 2015 1:02 pm

I'm from Minnesota and am hoping to head down to NW Arkansas for 3-4 days of paddling. I have never been in your state and though I have researched the rivers it would be nice to tie up with folks that know them. I'm thinking of heading down Mid January. I paddle year round up here but would love to not have negative windchills. It appear that the rivers have come up nicely down there? How long will they usually hold? The Mulberry and Big Piney are a couple rivers that look similar to what I run up here. Any help I can get as far as suggestions or hooking up to paddle would be great!

Hi JD, I've ben running these rivers in Arkansas since 1978. I know most of them. I'm also retired so I can get out most days. I'm a open boater very comfortable in class 2/3 water. So when you come down just post up and I will be ready to go.

About the time the rivers hold their water, this time of year they will hold pretty good for a week to 10 days. That is the Mulberry, Frog, class 2 stuff.
