That is one of the most thoughtful gifts we have ever received and we are looking forward to our first opportunity to use them.
Back Story: Since I rolled off of the ACC Board (too old & grumpy :myday" ) and Cindy and I moved up into the Mulberry River valley, our contribution to the ACC has been to host events at our home. We have lots of space to camp and a nice "barn" that can be used for instruction. Plus, we are close to Shore's Lake and to the Mulberry River.
So, it is 0.4 miles off the highway to our place and we are the last of 4 homes on the road. So when people come to see us for the first time, the odds are they are going to drive down all four drive ways until they get to the right one!
Now folks out here don't get many drop in visitors and it can be a little disconcerting when several strange vehicles drive up in your yard at all hours of the day or night. Especially if they have little colorful plastic toys tied to the top of the vehicle.
So, over the last few years Cindy and I have accumulated a nice collection of second-hand signs that we adapt for whatever event we have going on at our place. Birthday Party, Picnic, ACC Kayak IDW, etc. etc. etc. It takes four different signs to lead someone from the highway to our gate.
In April we hosted three ACC events at our place over three weekends and held a Robertson family reunion on the 4th weekend. Needless to say the signs got quite a work out.
At the ACC General meeting at Turner Bend we were presented with the gift of four very nice custom made signs that we can now use and reuse to lead guests back to our place. You guys could not possibly come up with a more appropriate or more appreciated gift than these signs.
Thanks to all for years of wonderful friendships and paddling memories! Come see us when you are in the neighborwoods. Just follow the signs!
