An oil pipeline just burst near Mayflower and there are reports of oil in the water of Lake Conway.

Re: Oil spilling into Lake Conway
Debbie and I scouted around about 10 pm after talking to Wes. The ditch feeds a cove of lake Conway but has to pass through a culvert to get to the main part of the lake. They had blocked of the culvert and were using tanker trucks to collect stuff. If all goes well tonight I bet they'll get 99% of it.
If heavy rains hit before they finish, overflow could get to lake Conway. Grassy lake will still be spared unless AGFC opens the gates. Palarm creek and the Arkansas could get some.
Don't get me wrong - 1% of a gigantic mess is still a huge mess. Just driving through the area Debbie got a head ache from the fumes. I think I'm just strangely happy because it could have been so much worse. If it had gotten into grassy lake and spread out there it would have taken many years to recover. But since it happened literally in these people's yards, it will get the right attention, complete with news coverage, to insure things are made right. And there is a far better chance that if somebody or some company screwed up, like maybe not replacing or maintaining an old pipeline (wild speculation, NOT a fact!), then that will be investigated far more thoroughly than if this had happened at some remote location out in the woods.

Take it for what's it worth. And these guys just want to make it worse.
