I have a trashy idea...
Let's do a Facebook TRASH page, or it could just be a photo album of an existing ACC or ACC chapter page. Every time we go on a river trip, and we happen to notice that stray can or bottle floating in a eddy or along the river edge, let's go pick it up. Then at the end of each trip, let's post a pic from the days float of trash the group collected either walking the put in/take out and/or scooped up off the river. Let's create a running document we all can add to by snapping pics of our trash hauls and see how many we can add to the photo album in the course of one year. These wouldn't be photos from official pick up days (although we can add those to...) but snapshots of the little bits of trash we can snag on every trip.
My thought behind this is when it's just one can, I feel it can be too easy to let that slide. Individual efforts can feel so small and futile. But if we have a way to document all our individual efforts together in one spot, maybe when we look back on it, we won't feel like our individual efforts were so futile after all.
Any interest?

I've heard that into every life a little of it must fall,
but you'll never catch me complaining about too much of that southern rain.

Heather that sounds outstanding. Not all of us spend the year paddling, but are out on the water all summer long. We haul pounds of trash back to the dock every time we are out on Lake Ouachita for some reason houseboat renters think the gravel bar is the place to put their trash before returning the boats.

Central Chapter has a facebook page, feel free to post photos, trashy or otherwise, to it. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Central-C ... 6884045919" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
No idea if that link will work, but if you are a facebook'er, have at it.

Arkansas Game and Fish's chief of enforcement will be at the meeting tomorrow to hear our concerns regarding the litter law and its enforcement, signs, etc. and explain their enforcement policy so we can all work effectively at reducing litter.

We're going to start the "program" at 7:30 as Colonel Crow has another committment tonight, followed by the usual business and reports. This will also give us a chance to discuss amongst ourselves what we've heard.
