Richland creek

Post by gma06001- » Sun Sep 16, 2012 10:38 am

I went up to richland yesterday to check out the falling water road. I'm pretty excited to finally see it open! Anyways, headed up richland creek fishin' the pools and thought i'd let y'all know theres a large sweet gum that has fallen over what i think y'all call lower screw up (i've never ran richland so it may be just below that). It was basically a little chute right above the calmer spot with HUGE boulders surrounding it before you go across all the shallow ledges. Pretty recent fall i think. Would be an easy hike in from the trail at the sharp curve north of the bridge. Could possibly zdrag it enough downstream to be out of the way but may just be better to saw it. Figured y'all would rather be ready before the water comes! Haha

Mitch, Shelby Johnson posted some photos of the tree on an earlier thread and you are correct about it's location. We'll consider this another reminder in case somebody didn't see the first one!

It (campground and road) was open in the spring when we rode our bikes there on an overnight bike camping trip.

Dunno if that's helpful or relevant today though :)

Some photos were posted on FB earlier this week and the tree has been deconstructed, but it sounds like there may be some more work to do. Thanks to the good citizens who took care of this!
