Harlan,

They have a nice swimming area & beach. The camping areas are all nice and shady. If you're planning on coming, I strongly recommend a call to their office this morning to check on availability and make a reservation.

Since I know you will also probably be playing some at the Ledge this weekend, I also recommend the nice gravel bar about two hundred yards upstream of the Ledge. Just walk the sidewalk upstream past the pumphouse
building and on up till it ends, from there you'll see a well-worn path down to shallow back channel, then over to the main bar. This gravel bar offers some shade and really nice wadding/swimming in the colder river water. I like this place real well because it has none of the sharp and uneven rock like the Ledge.

Have fun.

Best Regards
Jim

hdh:

There's an excellent swimming area just past the visitor center. Sandy beach, very gradual shallow play area, changing room/shower just a few yards from the water. And....

The swim area is roped and at least one ACC member has practiced their open water swimming there.

Mike I would tell my kids to steer clear of the Hughes clan. After all her daddy is a pretty big fella.

Saturdays have been snakebit for me lately, but I hope to come down. Might even persuade Mrs. Deuce to join me as little Deuce is at the Mt. Magazine Butterfly Festival with my folks. BHK, if you don't mind I'll put your digits in my phone, and if you get a call from a strange 501 number it will be because a strange guy is calling you to see about setting shuttle. :canoe:
    You come too.

    Deuce,

Didn't see this thread and started another one about Remmel to Rockport tomorrow. Hannah and I will be needing a shuttle so if you want to work something out give us a holler.

What time are we looking to meet up? I think the usual is 11:30 to 12ish. We're flexible.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I'll leave NLR around 10:30 which will have me there 11:30ish. Mrs. Deuce has given me a yard pass but won't be joining me. I'll check in with you late tomorrow morning. Looking forward to it.
