The River Valley Chapter of the Arkansas Canoe Club will hold its next meeting on Tuesday April 10, 2012 at the United Steelworkers Union Hall located at 2107 Brazil St. (off of Jenny Lind near Whirlpool). The Canoe Club Banner will be flying to help you find the union hall. We will meet at 6:00 PM and have pizza and diet soda (and anything else that you bring!!!) and start the meeting at 6:30. This meeting is open to the public and you are encouraged to bring guest and potential members. Our featured speaker will be one of our valued members, Tom Kennon. Tom will have at least 2 slide show presentations, Arkansas Landscapes & American West, and perhaps a third one if time permits.
Tom needs little introduction to most of us paddlers ( he did write our "bible") but here is his humble bio:
Tom Kennon has been an outdoor enthusiast and photographer for more than 30 years. An avid whitewater canoeist, his love of the natural world has been shaped by the rivers and streams of Tennessee, Arkansas and Colorado. He is actively involved with the Arkansas Canoe Club where he works to protect rivers and introduce people to whitewater boating. He is the author of A Canoeing and Kayaking Guide to the Ozarks.Tom is a self-taught photographer who turned a hobby into a passion. After attending several digital photography classes by Arkansas' premier photographer Tim Ernst, he was inspired to take his hobby to the next level. Whether capturing the essence of moving water or the delicacy of a single flower, attention to detail brings nature’s intimacy to life in Tom’s images.

Check out the article in the Times Record today. Nice pics and PR for the ACC. Hopefully it will attract some potential members to our meeting tomorrow.
