New Thread for planning and motivating!!!
Let's show up in droves! The Mulberry is at a great level for a trash pickup and the forecast is favorable for a great event!
I'm planning on visiting the Mill Creek access and then driving up to Turner Bend with stops at Campbell's, Milton and Big Eddy. Might need a trailer!
Who's with me?!?!?!?
Lord knows there is no shortage of litter to pick up!
Anyone want to stay the night in the Valley of Love and make it a party!?

Cindy and I are planning on hitting Hwy 215 some on Friday afternoon. I'm tired of looking at the litter!!! We can definitely hit Hurricane Crk area on Saturday.
I'll drag my trailer Saturday AM as well in case we hit the Mother Lode!
I'm batching it this weekend so may wind up overnight at the cabin in case anyone wants to throw down up there.
Gotta love Spring Time!

Rob, you and Max are always welcome!
Steve, I would head up to T Bend and check in to see what areas are in need of attention. I'll probably check in via phone to let Brad know what we accomplish downstream on the way in to TBend.
Hate to not get in float to pick up along the banks, but, we usually get plenty of action hitting the take out points along the route. Maybe we boat on Sunday?!

The boys and I would be happy to join your assault team too. We have Friday night free as Jennifer is working on Friday night. I have a 5x14 4wheeler trailer that would work great too. I'll be touch regarding final plans. I'll bring an arsenal of tools that would make Cowper proud.

I was on the river last week and there's what I think is an old refrigerator on the section between Byrd's and Redding on a river-right gravel bar just below McIlroy's property. It seemed pretty well lodged in the gravel so I don't know if it's recoverable. I'm not familiar enough with that section of river to know what roadside access there is.

To Owl's comment about a fridge.
McIlroy owns property on both sides of the river so be discreet when in the area between Byrd's and Redding, especially around and below the low-water bridge.
If you make too much noise in that area or if he spots you on the shore, you might get a visit. Never can tell if he will be agitated or friendly these days but keep in mind that it is best to smile and waive and not to argue with him.
I have had both types of encounters and think that, for the most part, he has mellowed somewhat. But, you never can tell.
His family has lived up there for generations and they are pretty set in their ways. Have to respect how life has changed for them over the years with the introduction of folks recreating in an area that used to be pretty much wilderness.

Hey Dave,
How is McElroy's health these days?
My class had a run in with him many years ago just floating by his property.
We had a RN in our group. Mr McElroy followed us for a long time screaming, red faced and so upset, the nurse advised that we get away from him ASAP so he could calm down as she was afraid he was gonna have a self induced stroke.
Just wondering if he has mellowed out any. Been a while for me to float his section just to avoid the conflict.

My last encounter was relatively pleasant. He just said "howdy" as we launched from the low water bridge, not really knowing better. We were prompt to get out of the way when we saw a vehicle approaching the bridge. He stopped and asked us how we were doing, turns out that he knew my friend's father from a while back and he kept us there for almost an hour talking our ears off about the "good 'ol days". :myday" Keep in mind we were in our mid-twenties at the time and couldn't really relate. We thought we had escaped the conversation and launched when down past the old cabin an old truck comes flying up to the bank and he jumps out screaming for us to stop. Apparently he forgot to mention something about Roosevelt and Kennedy or something to that effect.....30 minutes later we let ourselves drift downstream and waved as he continued to talk. Felt bad about it but we had to get out of there before the sun set.
