Post by Fish » Tue Apr 12, 2011 9:43 am

I can't tell the tale as I was not there to witness, but a I heard a collision on Beech Cr. broke "Giant" Ryan's arm yesterday. Hope you heal up soon buddy, and I want to sign your cast!

One of the members we was paddling with got pinned in the middle of the creek. I was trying to get out of my boat and had my hold on a large bolder on the side of the creek. Sammy came in behind me and stopped when he hit my arm. I heard a loud pop and thought "this ain't good", along with some other thoughts.

Luckily, this happened after all the better parts of the run. I only wished I would have not decided to paddle through the pain. I decided to try to paddle and I don't think it was completely separated. I was trying to painfully paddle off of Beech when I had to take a strong backstroke when suddenly it gave away. I almost passed out from all the pain. Luckily for me, Sammy was very close to me. He had to grab my boat and pull me to shore.

I could not paddle any more. We had to figure out how to get out of this remote area. We ran into a old road that ended up at Cave Mtn Road. If I was guessing we had to hike about 2.5 miles up the mountain with our boats. Our timing was perfect. Just as we arrived at the road, the guys running shuttle drove by.

Damn, that sucks! :(

I think most of us would have tried to paddle out, just like you did. Thanks for sharing the lessons-learned.

That just looks like a flesh wound to me. Are you sure that you can't work tomorrow?

Not even duct tape can fix that. Sorry to see that Ryan. Hope it heals up strong. It took a he'll of a lick to break you're big bones!

Mucho impressed Ryan! I hate to hear you'll be out of the game for awhile, but hope you come back stronger than before.
