Chris:
What are the dimensions for the Response, and what sort of paddler weight works with it?
Thanks!

Al, I purchased a Response new from NOC. Forgot the year, was out there for a clinic and they had a cross link for sale and I picked it up.
Still have it and still paddle it.
I think the length is 11 ft and some 3 inches, not sure of the rest of the stats.
At 6 feet tall and weight from 225 down to around 200 pounds, I have paddled this boat all over and still enjoy taking it out.
The boat is very fast, easy to roll and extremely good for big western river trips. I had my Response down the Middle Fork several times and had a blast each time. The boat surfs well and does awesome "enders" IE old school fun moves where you sink the bow and the kayak pops up and out of the water.
Due to the length and hull, it is not gonna do the current short kayak play moves but is great for general river running.
I have always canoed the Buffalo but my take is a Response would be an ideal kayak for Buffalo trips especially day trips.

Dave and Tmuse:
Thanks! Since we have a lack of old school yaks in Iowa, especially ones that fit larger paddlers, this one is a bit of a find for our Yankee paddling community.
The boat will likely be used on our Iowa flatwater creeks, where turning ability and relatively shallow draft are really important qualities.
Be well.

The Response cockpit was a tad larger than the cockpits of the day, Not sure exactly what stock skirts fit. Max Wellhouse might have a line on a skirt.
The Response has great secondary stability and if a person just puts some weight on the butt cheek this boat will carve very nice turns under control.
Skirtworks will make a custom fit skirt for about the same price as standard. They made one for my Villain and I am very pleased with it.
So Al, hope you guys do get this Response up North. Should be good to go there altho the design handles big water very well, should you head West. I had two and at the time they came out the Response was the hot river runner.
The Response and RPM Max are two designs I have kept since purchased new and still like them, altho I have been real happy with the Jackson creek boats. Great boats and I am happy to see them still being paddled.
