Need volunteers for IRWP at Lake Wedington! Oct. 16th!

Illinois River Watershed Partnership needs folks to teach people how to paddle! No need to be an instructor, we just need to show folks the basics! All help is appreciated! Let me know if you need further information!

10:00 - 10:50 WATERSHED ACTIVITIES – Choose from 4 activities

10:50 – 11:00 Switch activities

11:00 - 11:50 WATERSHED ACTIVITIES – Choose from 4 activities

12:00 – 12:30 LUNCH – Sam’s Club volunteers

12:30 - 1:00 WATERSHED CONCERT – Clean Water Raingers Marshall Mitchell

1:00 – 1:50 WATERSHED ACTIVITIES - Choose from 4 activities

1:50 – 2:00 Switch Activities

2:00 – 2:50 WATERSHED ACTIVITIES – Choose from 4 activities

3:00 – 4:00 Open canoeing for all

Canoe Lessons
Tent 1

Group 1: Tom Burroughs, Arkansas Canoe Club
Group 2: Rodger Keesee, Arkansas Canoe Club
Group 3: Chuck Bushong, Boy Scouts
Arkansas 59 Outfitters will provide 21 Canoes
3 groups/7 canoes each = 21 people per group/63 people total per session


Water Quality Monitoring
Tent 2
Group 1: Susan Bolyard, USGS
Group 2: Dirk Philipp, UA Division of Ag
2 groups of 12 = 24 total per session

Geocaching & Forest Facts
Tent 3
Group 1: AR Forestry Commission – Forestry Facts – Kevin Hickie
Ozark Natural Science Center – GPS How-to’s – Naima Monticer
CH2M-Hill – Jeff Hickle
1 Group of 20 per session
Rain Barrel Painting
Tent 4 Group 1: Kinya Elenbarger, 4209 Creative
Gene Pharr, Washington County Conservation
Jay Hale, Sierra Club Ozark Highlands Group
5 barrels per session = 4 people per barrel/20 people per session / 20 barrels total







ACTIVITIES
AR 59 Outfitters will provide 20 canoes.
ONSC will provide 3 GPS units. IRWP will provide 2 GPS units.
USGS will provide cool pencils!
IRWP will provide 4 tents – 1 for each activity station and 2 small folding tables and two chairs per tent.
IRWP and UA Ag will provide monitoring kits, buckets, water quality monitoring forms.
IRWP will provide 20 rain barrels, paints and supplies, and plastic cloths.


LUNCH:
IRWP will provide hamburgers, hotdogs, buns, condiments, chips, brownies, drinks, plates, napkins.
Bill Haak will cook hamburgers and hotdogs with Farm Service grill.
IRWP will provide 2 large tables with covers for lunch service.
Sam’s Club will set up for food service, assist with grilling and serve lunch.


INFORMATION STATION
IRWP will set up a tent and table as the information station to help participants navigate activities throughout the day.
