Western Ark Creeks up today (Sun 6/20)?

Post by RandyJ » Sun Jun 20, 2010 6:38 am

Surely something is running this morning? Some high rainfall totals in a few concentrated spots. Webber Creek took a direct hit. Anyone have visuals?

We had rumbles of thunder all night and some rain here in the Little Mill Creek area. The 24 hour rainfall accumulation shows perhaps 1.5 - 2.0 inches in the Fern Gulley area.

Grant may post a visual if he's not working this morning. I'll jump on my scooter and run check it out in case he's snoozing.

Its summer time now. 2 inch rain is not going to do crap. Start looking for 5 inch rains to get anything moving.

According to Google Earth/Streams:
  • The Webber Creek run itself received 6+"
  • Area east-southeast of town of Mulberry got about the same.
  • Creeks on the north side of Mulberry River got 2-3" in places
All this rain looks to be highly localized, i.e., rain clouds just parked and dumped. Looks like the area near Mulberry town got the 6+", but five miles away, zero rainfall registered.

Google/NWS radar precip totals may be a little inflated on the amounts, but have seemed to be dead-on accurate for location.

Just sayin'...there might be something out there, but don't judge by what the ditches look like on the way there.
Let there be rain!
