Weekend paddling?

Post by JB2012 » Tue Feb 09, 2010 11:01 pm

It's going to be chilly, but there is plenty of water, as of now. Mulberry? Frog? Buffalo? Sunday?

Maybe the Mulberry on Sat. as the high is forecast to be in the 50's. It's not supposed to get out of the 30's on Sunday.

I'll probably be on the Mulberry on Sat... what run are you thinking about? I'm a big fan of Milton Ford to King's Hole on the lower/middle part
Aw! It's just rocks and water! What could go wrong?

I would be in for a Mulberry run on Sat. Not bothered with the run choice.

Milton is pretty muddy and where you used to be able to park over to the right is blocked off. There is parking for probably 3 vehicles. With more there probably wouldn't be room to turn around very easily.

Sure pup, you'd be welcome.

Given the minimal parking at Milton's I wonder if putting in at Campbell's should be considered? Also, I've never been to King's. What's the road like down to there?

if there's a truck available we can get to King's that's no big deal. I think it would probably be just a matter of stacking some kayaks.

I'd love to paddle the lower section on the Mulberry. From my recollection of the one time that I paddled to Campbell cemetary, it took a bit of time. I have a long standing commitment on Sat. evening. If there is a shorter run anyone is going to do --four hours--let me know (of course that does depend on how soon we can get on the water).

With the roll session cancelled I might be down with an up river run - maybe high bank to redding?

I'm leaning towards a High Bank to Byrd's run with a crack o'noon put on to give the day a chance to warm up.

how about something down lower... say... Milton to King's hole? Yeah, the pools are a bit bigger but the rapids are too...
