OT: Any GIS pros around?

To anyone that might be able to help me out..I have a project coming up in GIS ( geographic information systems ) class, and could really use someones help that uses GIS software or is pretty familiar with it, and the procedures of making maps with it. Mainly we use ArcGIS, ArcMap, etc. I am at a loss, as the class is more google and fly by the seat of your pants currently.

Quite a few things for this project Shelby. And frankly, most of it is still beyond me at this stage in my young GIS career.
