Any opinions? Where are ya, Alan?
Going on the float this weekend and would like to take my cataraft. Been on this section 1 time and that was looong ago. Will the raft do it? Or should I bring my Buffy canoe? Gauge at 4.17 now. How much will 2 days drop it?

Just fill your pontoons with helium and you should have no problems!
Plus you can get it down to the put in on a string like a balloon!

Your good to go down to about 3.25 at HWY 14 and ask Richard how much stuff I take. Few weeks ago before all the rain I put in at Spring creek at 3.14 and was in my inflatable canoe. Next time I will take the raft. I've got a Star Wonder Bug that is basiclly a 14' cat so it will be a good time this weekend. At 4 foot you probably won't have to paddle unless the wind is blowing in your face. Man the Bluff will be really cool Saturday night. Wish I could go this weekend but my fun planner already has plans for me. I am thinking of going next weekend if the water holds.
And just for future refrence I can run form Ponca at 3'. You have to choose you spots in a few places but it is very doable. Also if you can catch it as it comes over the Ponca bridge and have a few days it is very fun run to HWY7.
You guys have fun this weekend!!!

Allen,
I have your raft's baby brother, a 12' Star, with 25" tubes -- I think they're a great design. I've taken it on three "Western Rivers" this year - 65 miles on the Salt in late March, 84 miles on the San Juan in late April, and 84 miles on the Desolation & Gray Canyons of the Green in early June. In years past on the upper Arkansas River in Colorado, I've taken it twice down both the Numbers and through the Royal Gorge - in addition to several times through Brown's Canyon. It's a blast to row -- really great fun:)
