spelunking
spelunking
I know this is off-topic but does anyone have any beta on caving/spelunking in the state?
Re: spelunking
There are many nice caves in north--northwest Ar. As of June this year all of the caves and mines on Forest Service land in Arkansas, as well as 12 other southern states have been closed to the public in order to help stop the spread of WNS....white nose syndrome in bats. Very bad for the bats, which = bad for us. I would assume that National Park caves are closed as well......but haven't asked any higher ups yet. Closing is just supposed to be for a year. I'm willing to take a year off from caving if it may help the situation. I hope nothing happens like that to keep me from paddling for a whole year . Things could get rough..... Boz
Re: spelunking
All the caves across the south are closed? That's harsh, but I guess it's for the best.
As for further info, I know there is a Grotto in the Little Rock area. They meet at the Maumelle library, first thursday of the month I think, but not sure about that part.

Re: spelunking
Does anyone else in the LR area have a ton of bats flying around their neighborhood? I live out towards Bryant and thought it was odd to see the bats out and about last night, but I guess it's good as far as mosquito control.
Re: spelunking
Cavers rescue spelunkers and way to go cavers for killing off the bats. Lets keep it clean out there kids.
