Film festival! Updated date: Surf and Turf

Post by JBradley » Mon Jun 01, 2009 2:21 pm

Will there be one this year? if not, why? Even though i didn't enter in previously i appreciated steve's compilation of videos on his site. Kyle and tracy have had the best video i've seen so far, but we need more to judge that by.

If the answer is no to film gathering, i will hold one.

Lazer, ScottH, Randy Jackson and Heath should have some good stuff. They ran Rio Santa Cruz this past Saturday, Rio Embudo on Sunday, some play run around Durango yesterday and today they were going to run 26 miles on the Animas. Not sure where they are going rest of the week, but hopefully they are getting lots of video, especially since Scott just got a cool new waterproof video camera!

We're not doing Vous this year but be sure to save some paddling porn footage for that!

I was hoping Paddledog would respond before I said anything about this!

I contacted him around the first of the year regarding the film festival and entry criteria, etc. Just out of curiosity, mostly. I had been told that he was the one who spear-headed the event.

He told me that he only had one entry last year and that he wasn’t going to do it again this year due to lack of interest. One entry does not a festival make! I have no idea how he set it up with projection, sound, etc., since I wasn’t there, but it can certainly be a big undertaking to show video to a large audience. And doing it outdoors has its own issues.

But maybe he will see this thread and respond personally instead of me trying to remember what he said exactly or speculate.

Sorry, away from the computer for a bit.
The rumors are correct, I will not be organizing a film festival at this years 'Vous.
If anyone would like to pick it up and run with it I would be available to advise
on set up and such.

Isn't that like screaming for quiet?

What we could do is pull together and buy Harlan about 10 cases of beer and let him tell us all his CARNAGE stories. It could last all weekend!!!!!

Alright, i have had a few pm's showing interest with the film festival. I will hold one. I've got a decent size house with some room and some very large tv's and

It doesn't have to be a club event since i myself am not a club member but have no problem with club members @ mah house :poke: .
The house is in london right on the lake (bring your boat)

If the house idea doesnt suit someone, we can do it at the local bar.. or even a bar in fayetteville.

Steve, jody, myself.....

what about lance, scott, heath, or anyone else?

i got a pm for somewhere in the hotsprings area but i wont mention his name yet. i think it would be fun either place, here or there.

If anyone else has any takes on it then talk about it. Maybe you have a cabin in the woods? or a place on the creek? that would be even better.

good deal, finally some more enthusiasm.

I've got 4 different sources of film. Their names will remain unknown until they decide to let people know. I'm pretty sure this will be a good showing. I think alot of people will see some pretty unique history from some ambassadors of AR paddling.

We could defnitely use the projector. I was going to have the showing at my house because of:

1. Parking
2. Horse shoes
3. BBQ
4.
5. large shop that has an enormous door that would allow theater style viewing
6. Location. London area ... almost anyone who is driving will have an equal distance.
7. no neighbors to annoy

The time schedule will be around Mid july. Most likely sometime during the weekend of the 10-12th.

get your footage ready and your ice chests packed.
