Maiden voyage Boxley to Ponca

Post by occ » Mon May 04, 2009 2:02 pm

I'm sure this may be minor to some of you, but me and my buddy did Boxley to Ponca yesterday with the gage at 6.4. WOW we've been kayakn for 2 years, fairly experienced. That was huge water. We made it fine and went back today (monday) and ran it again. Very calm today compared to sunday. What class rapids might that have been on Sunday?? We were way impressed might need to upgrade boats.

I was with a group on Saturday that, due to incoming storms, bailed on the Hailstone. We thought the Hailstone would shoot up pretty quick and didn't want to get hammered. As a bailout we paddled Boxley to Ponca. It was my first time on that run. There were some good waves out there, some were the biggest I've seen in Arkansas. I think even with the big water, it was only Class III. Really good surfing in a couple of spots.
