Please help!

Post by debmoore » Mon May 04, 2009 7:39 am

There were so many of ya'll on the creeks and rivers this weekend I hope that maybe someone saw something that can help us out. Some one stole one of our rafts, a blue 12' Star Water Bug with a frame one it. The floor is laced up in the stern, for our trolling motor. They got it on Saturday (5/2/09). We were moving boats cause we were worried about it flooding at the house, and we had a flash flood at the store. If anyone saw someone with a blue Star raft please let us know, we can possibly track someone or something down. We have the serial number.

You come to the right place Deb. You now have a hundred more chances of finding it. I firmly believe they will get whats coming to them. Most of us know what your rafts look like.
Damn thieves. I mean, what were they thinking they were going to do with a raft so easily identifiable by most of the paddlers in Arkansas and beyond.
Keep us posted, and good luck for a fast recovery of the blue Star raft.

Thanks guys. We're kind of afraid that it's heading out of state, maybe west. Can someone tell me where else I should post to let other paddlers know?

You might try posting on mountainbuzz.com and boatertalk.com.
That should help cover west and east.

Deb,

Sorry to hear about the raft. The mountainbuzz & boatertalk suggestions are good. There's also Boof.com for the Cali scene and NPMB.com for the Northeast. You might try the paddle texas board as well although those guys are a little rough around the edges, they may be willing to keep an eye out and/or shoot someone for you ;) Good luck!

What Zack said.

This will have most boaters in the Country keeping an eye out for your raft. and the few who don't read will hear about it through the grapevine.

Hoping for the best. If the law doesn't get them, hopefully we will. Holla if ya need posy members for retrieval when located.

You can google "craigslist, raft, blue" or something similar and it will show you any of the Craigslist listings in the US. Might watch ebay as well.

Unless there is something I don't know odds are it was taken by a local who by now is probably wondering what the heck he/she is gonna do with it. You might want to watch the local classifieds and perhaps Craigslist.com to see if it winds up for sale.

It would be this color
http://www.starinflatables.com/mods/pro ... product=75" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

only in this slightly smaller model
http://www.starinflatables.com/mods/pro ... product=27" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and possibly, if the frame is still on it, then visualize this, with some oars:
http://www.starinflatables.com/mods/pro ... product=43" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There are some indications that these boat thefts involve folks that don't realize how "tight" some of us in the paddling community are. We've had a few cases now where the boat stays "under wraps" for 3 to 6 months, but then, when they think the smoke has cleared, they try to use or sell it locally. So, keep your eyes open and remember this one a few months, and things might just happen...

That bites. I live in the Ozark area. I will keep my eyes and ears on alert. Have you tried to call any local pawn shops, like in the Ft. Smith, V.B. area? You never know.... Good luck!
