Can you put a 16 footer canoe in at Winslow?

Post by muskrat » Fri Apr 17, 2009 2:18 pm

I've put in many a times at Brentwood and wondering if that big drop I hear about near Winslow is possible. And, yes, I'm real good and almost dumb, but that's why I'm asking you guys :slimer:

It's really tight up there with quite a few trees, but it's been done in a canoe before. Just be really heads up for strainers and make sure you can handle the boat in tight spots.

Don't need one of those them kayaks to mix it up with the crazys, just get a shorter open boat(this from someone who has run 18ft falls in an OCA) Dale

Yes you can. I've seen the falls run and run the rest in a buffalo.

I have ran that section several times and once in a buffalo canoe. Be careful if the water level is big, because the hole at the bottom can be a killer.
The parking lot beside the gas station at the old ball field is public parking. You can't really scout the falls without trespassing. I'm not for sure if the same land owner lives there or not, but if he does, he doesn't want people walking on or around the falls. He is terrified that someone will get hurt and sue him. Used the be one of my favorite swimming holes as a kid. We just had to be really sneaky.
