Canoe Race

Come test skills and canoeing techniques on the beautiful White River. Find a friend and borrow a canoe or kayak and enter the 2nd Annual Spring Time Sprint Canoe Race. April 25th 2009 from lock #2 (Locusts Groove) to Batesville Bridge (Kennedy Park). This event is a local canoe and kayak race sponsored by Independence County Venturing Crew #320 Boy Scouts of America. The purpose for this event is to encourage area canoe and kayak enthusiast to test their skills, while allowing Boy Scouts units around the state to practice for their upcoming National Championship Canoe Race (43rd National Invitational Championship Boy Scout White River Canoe Race.) July 22nd thru July 25th.

Registration : 8:30AM
Start : 10:00AM
Approximate Finish : 11:15AM (8 miles)

Divisions
• Youth Division:
Boys or Girls ages 14 thru 20 no exceptions.
Price : 5.00 per scout, 10.00 for other youth / 1, 2, 3 places

Boat Descriptions :
Recreational - C2 - 2 people canoes, Single bladed paddles.
Recreational - K1 - 1 person kayaks.

• Adult Division:
Males or Females ages 21+. (Should be in good physical shape)
Price : 20.00 per racer / 1, 2, 3 places
Boat Descriptions :
Recreational - C2 - 2 people canoes, Single bladed paddles.
Racing - C2 - Racing style canoe.
Open - K1 - Male, any one person kayak.
Open - K1 - Female, any one person kayak.
• Corporate Division:
Male or Female 14 years or older, may use recreational or racing style canoes.
Price : 100.00 per canoe
Award : Fastest Boat
The prestigious "Batesville Cup" trophy to be displayed at your business for one year.
• Boy Scout Division:
Girls, Boys, and Co-ed : C2-Aluminum or Cruisers
Adult advisors may race with scouts as judges and race officials.
This is a practice, but all racing and safety protocol will be followed.

Safety
1. Life Jackets must be worn at all times during this race. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from event.

2. Safety boats will be staged along race course to monitor and offer assistance if needed.

Awards and lunch will be provided followed race at Kennedy Park fishing pavilions.

If inclement weather or water conditions warrant, the race will be moved to May 9 2009.
