How often does the KMZ file we use w. Google Earth on NWS update w. precipitaton totals? Also, need to make sure I'm using the right one, I grabbed the one below the dark blue box entitled "Single Image by Radar" and in the drop down box chose "Storm Total Precipitation".

I generally use a bunch of them but not simultaneously... For AR often times I find myself relying on the "1 Hr Precip" option more than the storm total. However I use the storm total one also but it clears itself after a certain period of time.... I'm not sure that helps but maybe. Generally I try and look at how much is coming across in the big bands looking at it around Tulsa etc and then use the loops to see where the storm is tracking. Most times it's pretty accurate but the 1 Hr Precip and Storm Total readings will def tell you what has gotten hit and what hasn't.... Your mileage may vary... Good luck :)

Cool, that definitely helps. I was just importing the storm total files and was playing around w. the location. I grabbed the one for "Little Rock" as well as the other option "W. Arkansas/Ft. Smith". What's strange is that they both showed different amounts of rainfall hitting the Tot area. Why is this?

I'm no meteorologist so I may be terribly inaccurate but I would assume it's due to the positioning of their radar. Being that the 'Tot is so far West I would assume that W Arkansas reading would be more accurate than the LR reading. For the Tot that is...

PS. I wouldn't worry about it too much on this storm as the Tot will be there tomorrow and likely will be at a nice fat level

Haha, yeah yeah, I know. We're leaving at 5:30 am tomorrow. Probably gonna hit Baker in the AM and then the Tot. Can't wait!
