Re: louisiana whitewater
It's 137 miles from Bossier, if you get off I-49 in Natchitoches...

p.s. It's 100 miles from me and I'd be glad to paddle that with you and take you over to Kisatchie Falls too. I haven't been able to find anyone down here to paddle them.

Yeah...I know what you mean. Right now, the level is dropping pretty slow and settling out at a decent level. By time summer gets here, you pretty much have to catch it the day after it rains.KAYAKN wrote:Lets see 137miles to paddle in La. or 180 to paddle Baker Hmmm...........?????? Hehehe,I was thinking the SAME thing Adam. I would NEVER drive that far to paddle something like that. Makes me literally want to put a gun to my head when I realize that is the best whitewater we have in this entire state....
Re: louisiana whitewater
Last weekend I did Toro..was very decent although the water dropped a foot overnight,,,but was still doable....Then i went and got in the turbo charged waters of the Spillway of Toledo bend dam...Now..thats action....Kisatchie blows..way to low..even the falls suck..water level has to be just right,,,but Torro ...section two ..is good when level is good..Strainers are plenty on the north section....got pinned twice...

I drove by this recently, but didn't have time to take a closer look...the Catahoula Lake Diversion Canal.

A guy from Alaska that is stationed at Ft. Polk sent me this picture of Kisatchie Falls recently. I've never seen the whole shoal go underwater. He said there was small decent surfing waves.

The outfitter will go through section two and clean it out soon. He spends winters in Colorado. He was going to shuttle me for a solo run in the fall, but I was worried about trees being down after the hurricanes.stoneman wrote:Kisatchie blows..way to low..even the falls suck..water level has to be just right,,,but Torro ...section two ..is good when level is good..Strainers are plenty on the north section....got pinned twice...
