I've been jonesing for a new slalom boat for a few years now. When I started researching the market I found new composite slalom boats are near $2000 or more. Looked for some used ones but also wanted the newer 3.5m design....but no luck. The above boat is just the ticket. And, this plastic boat only weighs around 30lbs. I got in on the pre-order sale at the wondrful price of $559....no kidding. This was an upfront deal that was only available to good looking boaters...no wait....to those who bought before 1/30/09. Mine is now in route from Italy and will hopefully be in the USA in a few weeks.
Not planning on racing (well maybe something low-key)....just craving the old longer boats with fast hull speed for eddy hopping and the type of river-running I have always loved. The grace of paddling a slalom boat fast through a rock garden rapid and playing all the eddies like a slalom course is something I've always loved. You newer boaters just don't know what you've missed.
oh....and mine will be the same white color as pictured above.
