wanna see my new toy?

I've been jonesing for a new slalom boat for a few years now. When I started researching the market I found new composite slalom boats are near $2000 or more. Looked for some used ones but also wanted the newer 3.5m design....but no luck. The above boat is just the ticket. And, this plastic boat only weighs around 30lbs. I got in on the pre-order sale at the wondrful price of $559....no kidding. This was an upfront deal that was only available to good looking boaters...no wait....to those who bought before 1/30/09. Mine is now in route from Italy and will hopefully be in the USA in a few weeks.

Not planning on racing (well maybe something low-key)....just craving the old longer boats with fast hull speed for eddy hopping and the type of river-running I have always loved. The grace of paddling a slalom boat fast through a rock garden rapid and playing all the eddies like a slalom course is something I've always loved. You newer boaters just don't know what you've missed.

oh....and mine will be the same white color as pictured above.

Heck yeah Tomcat, those things look fun. I remember when we were on the Ocoee w. Joel and he was in one of those. He could make that thing zoom upstream through fast moving water, just a real wonder to watch. Look forward to watching you make yours do cool things!

thnx guys.....

those who know me know how I like to "work-out" and this boat will see alot of action down at Rockport doing attainments from the lower ledge up to the play ledge park. Can't think of a better way to get an upper body workout in the hot summer months. Also, will be used on the Piney and such rivers to make them into one long grand slalom run. Can you tell I'm psyched?

Beautiful boat T.C. I hope I get to take it round the block once. I still have my last glass boat, An "IMAGE", but I wouldn't get in it these days on a bet. Tree limb put a hard hurt to it. Plus it's age. It had had both ends pretty much broken off at one time, and a couple major bow repairs. I believe mine saw the worlds near twenty five years ago. Bought it from the Chuckster seventeen years ago.

I sure do miss the racing scene

Would have been nice if you had mentioned this, say, about two weeks ago... :poke:

sorry cowp....guess I shoulda said sumtin sooner. I found the information from a post on BoaterTalk so it was "out there" to be seen. But, the current $750 price isn't that bad when compare to other prices for new boats nowadays. But, I still have to either drive to pick it up in Charlotte NC or pay more for final shipping from the NE.
