OT Honda car question

Post by Clif » Sun Jan 25, 2009 6:39 am

I need help getting a remote clicker for my mom's odyssey. 03 xl. They are on ebay but I have some questions about which one. Do I need the frequency code? And does the same remote, with side door opener buttons, work on hers with out that feature?
You sure this is on the right channel?

Not sure if this will help you.

Hey Clif,
Tom from Tulsa here,
I'm a "Service Tech" (fancy name for a mechanic) for a Honda dealership in Tulsa.
That being said... Here goes...
I assume you are talking about an "03 Odyssey LX model (no power sliding doors
with black outer door handles). Many factors come into play here.Does it have just
keyless entry or keyless with security (red light on upper steering column cover that flashes).
Basically what it boils down to is: The EX model with the doors on the remote will not work,
unless the Freq. is the same. The "FCC ID"# on the back will tell you if they will work.
We have found no rhyme or reason to which remotes work with which vehicles except
the FCC ID #(the button configuration may be different but,the functions will perform
if the numbers are the same). Hope this is some help.I only have limited access to the
Honda Tech website from home. I will put my phone # on my profile. Feel free to call
between 8&5 with any more questions and I can pick the brains on those around me.

This might help you a little.

1999-00 Odyssey EX with factory-installed keyless entry system or dealer-installed security system

*2001-04 Odyssey EX models with factory- installed security system*

*Transmitter Identification

The 1999-00 transmitter is not interchangeable with the 2001-04 transmitter. To tell them apart, look at the FCC ID on the back.

1999-00 - FCC ID: E4EG8DN

2001-04 - FCC ID: OUCG8D-440H-A*

Programming the Transmitter

NOTES :
^ The system accepts up to three transmitters. The transmitter codes are stored in a stacking-type memory. If a fourth transmitter code is programmed, the code for the first transmitter is erased.

^ Entering the programming mode cancels all learned transmitter codes, so none of the previously programmed transmitters will work. You must reprogram all of the transmitters once you are in the programming mode.

You must complete steps 1-6 within 4 seconds of the previous step to keep the system from exiting the programming mode.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

2. Press the "Lock" or "Unlock" button on one of the transmitters. (An unprogrammed transmitter can be used for this step.)

3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

4. Repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 two more times using the same transmitter used in step 2.

5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

6. Press the "Lock" or "Unlock" button on the same transmitter. Make sure the power door locks cycle to confirm that the system is in programming mode.

7. Within 10 seconds, press the "Lock" or "Unlock" button on each transmitter. Make sure the power door locks cycle after you press each transmitter button to confirm that the system accepted the transmitter's code.

8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) to exit the programming mode.

Ordering a Transmitter

Transmitters can be ordered only by authorized Honda dealers. Order them from American Honda using normal parts ordering procedures.

Batteries for the Transmitter

The battery number is CR2025. Each transmitter uses one battery.
If you live in Memphis, you better have a good vehicle and lots of gas money!
