FYI Cadron Creek - post flood

Post by Chester » Thu Sep 11, 2008 8:10 am

Just FYI:
The oilfield trailers, water pumps, and rope across the Cadron were gone this Monday. :D
There are several trees down that could be trouble for boaters without good boat control. One in particular, is in the outside (river left) last right turn at Daddy's Knee. At 4 ft it was skirted easy enough, at less than 3 ft when the path narrows, it could be more trouble. It is a chainsaw sized tree.
Also, two large sets of timbers bolted together, resembling an oilfield type bridge or platform are in the creek. :(
A nice looking Old Town Discovery is wrapped below Quaker Rapid. :(
A Jon Boat rests in the woods along the bank. :(
Finally, another chainsaw size large tree was deposited at the Hwy 65 bridge takeout. :(

I suppose there's a chance depending on what Ike does that these hazards might wash on down stream (of course, Ike might deposit all new ones in their place)!

Thanks for the post, though - good to be reminded that even our local "play run" can have hazards and we always need to keep our eyes open out there.
I've heard that into every life a little of it must fall,
but you'll never catch me complaining about too much of that southern rain.

And keep in mind that above 4' or so there are plenty of spots on this "play run" that need the proper respect. Strainers etc.. :!:

Is the tree at the 65 bridge? On the bank? I could visit there easy enough.
You sure this is on the right channel?

Clif, it covers the concrete boat landing or takeout.

I posted a picture of the tree at the takeout on another post.
Here it is in my webshots. Also picture of the wrapped canoe.
