Come out and paddle to help an old friend!
Come out and paddle to help an old friend!
Looks like Lee Cr. will be running Saturday during the cleanup event, which pretty much takes away any excuse for not being there pitching in to help. Not only do you get to build up great river karma points, contribute to a good cause, and get some free food, but you also get to paddle and play on one of the finest creeks in the state! I apparently need river karma more than anyone after the last two days, so I will be there to clean up and paddle with everyone. Thanks for coming out to help out an old friend, Lee Cr., who seems to be feeling the love and is showing appreciation to us paddlers this Saturday. See you at the Hwy 220 takeout at 10:00 AM!

Re: Come out and paddle to help an old friend!
You're talking me into this! By Hwy 220 takeout, do you mean the Hwy 220 bridge like you would come to if you had put in at Devil's Den?
"...a light falling sound, as of grains of sand being sprinkled from a window overhead, gradually spreading, intensifying, acquiring a regular rhythm, becoming fluid, sonorous, musical, immeasurable, universal: it was the rain." --Marcel Proust

That's the bridge. It's where the NW Chapter is meeting. I think RV may meet there too, but not sure.
See ya there,

Oops, in another thread it looks like RV chapter will be meeting at Natural Dam starting about 8 AM. I'll be at Hwy 220 bridge by 9:00 AM tomorrow morning. Hope to see a lot of NW Chapter folks out there this time! We gotta beat the RV Chapter for attendance and win the Golden Trashcan trophy!
Who else is coming? If you are and want to bring an extra something for folks to munch on or drink, that would be great!

Lee Creek is going to Feel some more love from 40/29 tomorrow morning. They said they would be at the park around 9. They said that they want to go with or talk to some of our cleanup crew. They also said that they wanted to stay as close to NWA as possible. So, if the SilverBridge aka 220 bridge crew wanted some tv time.... just let me know and I will try to steer them that way.
Also, please do not shy away from all of the free food and drinks (exception beer) and door prizes that will be at the Day Use Horse Camp area on 220 just at the border of the park.
We have enough food and drinks for 200 folk. So please come help eat it all so it does not go to waste.

Maybe beer would be ok if in containers. I know that I love beer. I am honestly not familiar with the park rules. So, use your own judgement and please don't sing any david allen coe if drunk and talking to 40/29

Send in the cameras - Ryan is highly photogenic.
We'll be well outside the park at Hwy 220 and Fall Cr. so beer's all good there. I think the park has been pretty tolerant, just have your beer in a cup there.
We'll have food for about 30 to 40 folks at the Hwy 220 bridge as well. Bring a very good appetite!

Hope everyone shows up out there. If ya don't support it now, no griping if we lose it later.

Re: Come out and paddle to help an old friend!
I will be there at 9AM. Would you give me directions?
Which exit off 540? Turn right, correct? When I was out at Devil's Den a few weeks ago it looked like there were lots of signs that said 220... Where do I turn? Sorry for the dumb questions.

Re: Come out and paddle to help an old friend!
From Fayetteville:
- Take I-540 south
- Take the West Fork/Devil's Den Park exit. Take a right and follow the highway all the way to Devil's Den Park.
- As soon as you're at the bottom of the hill in the park, take a right on Hwy 220, which goes past the horse camp. This road will become a gravel/dirt road soon. Look for the main check in area there. Food and giveaways available there.
- To get to Hwy 220 creek access, follow the gravel/dirt road (this is Hwy 220!) as it parallels the creek for somewhere around 6 miles or so. When you come to a "T" at another dirt road, take a left and go about .25 mile to the Hwy 220 bridge. Cross the bridge and take the first left which leads to parking at the creek access.
See you there!

Re: Come out and paddle to help an old friend!
Don't throw stones at me, but did I read somewhere that 4-wheelers will be allowed during this clean-up?
Do you have to be present to win the door prizes? Probaby so, huh?
Oh, and:
State parks are tolerant of beer (and other beverages). If you have it, throw it in a coozie or as someone suggested, in a cup.
The misuse and/or abuse of alcohol is not tolerated as we like to say. So as long as everyone handles themselves accordingly if they are in the state park, it'll all be good.

Four wheeler sounds like a great idea!
