Kudos to the MWA for putting on a great event!

I wish I'd had more time to mingle, but I did at least get to meet Amy (Clay's significant other) for the first time. Next time I'm going to find time to rub elbows with the MWA folks as well. (I did feel sort of antisocial without really meaning it to happen that way.)

Crash did great for her first time racing! She finished second in at least two of her events and there's probably some more race results yet to be posted. That is fantastic for someone who has been paddling less than a year and saw her first slalom gate one week ago. She also had at least one run where she made all the gates. A tip of the hat also goes out to the first place finisher who combined a really good time with a totally clean run to take first place.

Crash rocked it. And big kudos to Brian and Aly for taking her up there two weekends in a row! Arkansas was represented well.

It turns out that slalom is fun to watch. There was an interesting mix of big boats and little ones, very experienced paddlers and semi-newbies. We enjoyed meeting the MWA folks, but it was good to have so many familiar Arkansas faces in camp and on the river. Steve and Jason get extra points for serving double shifts as safety guys.

It was a good time. I missed out on the party at camp. We rolled in late and everything was shutting down and we went home Sat. night. The Saint is a cool river and the race seemed well done too.

I did not race. I took my playboat down. I had a clean run other than Big Drop. I ran it backwards by not paying attention in the eddy above it. Next thing you know I am going over the drop in reverse. I just wanted to provide a little carnage for the crowd!

I am sure I will catch up with you folks at WW School.

Alright folks, it sounds like we need to do a slalom race in Arkansas. Any suggestions for location? I've heard of races below Longpool and at Dierks back when Max Wellhouse lived here. Someone (not me, I'm busy with WW school) should start a race. I humbly suggest the name "Arkansas Classic". I'll sign up in the Open Canoe categories!
