Clif, to add to my post since I drove by Libby/Lobo Landing today on an errand. The distance between those two is minimal so from Winkley down to Lobo would be a nice trip and you would have a boat ramp at Lobo easing your takeout. If you decided to eat a late lunch, there are plenty of shade trees (didn't see any picnic tables) amongst the cabins to spread a blanket for a picnic.
Not sure of the distance from Lobo to Dripping Springs but you would have boat ramp accesses at both spots.
Once again, if you were to need shuttle and I was around, I would be happy to assist.

There's also a little restaurant at Lobo if you're so inclined.

I have floated the White a few times from Norfork to Allison. Summer and Fall. Summer has a good flow. I would drop off my canoe and gear at Norfork then drive to Allison and leave my car at Angler's Resort. Then thumb my way back to Norfork. First time I did it I paid for a shuttle. It took forever. After that I thumbed rides. Faster and more interesting. White hair is a plus when thumbing rides. On Friday I would float 7 miles Norfork to Reds Landing and spend the night. Next day I would do about 20 miles, Reds to Boswell Shoals and camp at a NFS campground. Sunday would be Boswell to Allison. Fishing was always good. Water was pleasant.
Downside was the prevailing summer wind from the south. The wind seemed to be most noticeable from Calico Rock to Allison. I bought a sea anchor that I have never used with the idea that it would allow me to go with the flow no matter what the wind did.
Fall is a completely different experience. Water is low and slower. No wind. Still very nice but a relaxed 20 mile day in the fall is not going to happen.
Quapaw Area Council of the Boy Scouts is doing a Buffalo River float on the last week of summer camp. The alternative if the Buffalo does not flow is Calico Rock to Allison unless we add an extra day. Then it will be Norfork to Allison. This is not to be confused with the BSA White River Canoe Race that will be held later in July.
Well, its time to head back to third week of camp. It looks to be a very hot and dry week. The Buffalo continues to drop. White is becoming more likely as each day passes.
Clif, I thought you and I were going to float the White?!?!?!

When can you go? I would like to do it next week, mid week . . possibly this week. How flexible are you? Either Calico Rock to Allison or Norfork to Allison.
