Wattensaw or DeView Sunday 12/5

Upper Bayou DeView is good to go. We will be at the Hazen T'Rick's at 9:00am tomorrow. Those coming from the east should meet us at Brinkley on HWY 49 at the Shell station just north of I40 at around 9:30am.

I plan to go but trying to decide whether or not to wear wet suit. What chances are their on the upper for portages?

Just saw Karla's post as I was typing mine and I have the same question. Will I need to wear my mucks or will ankle boots be OK?

Just saw Al's post. Hope Tina is well enough to make the trip too. Sure enjoyed meeting her on the last trip.

There is plenty of water so chances are we will not need to portage but I can't guarantee that there won't be a downed tree or log blocking the channel somewhere. We have not paddled here since last spring. I always wear my muck boots just in case.

I learned from Capt. Aleve some time ago not to plan anything in the evening if you're paddling that day. Unfortunately, I already had a couple of things planned starting around 5:00, and I'm guessing it'll be later than that getting back from Wattensaw, which is about two hours away from where I am. So, with many regrets, I guess I'd better try again on a less busy day.

It was a great day to be out on the water with friends. Eagles, deer, otters, numerous owls and snow geese galore were spotted. Top that off with tons of beautiful scenery and "it just doesn't get any better than that."

Everyone was taking pictures and some members had telephoto lenses. Can hardly wait to see the close ups of some of the many owls we paddled by.

I am deeply impressed, on each outing, by the caring and sharing attitudes the members show for each other when we are out together. Am so thankful to have found ACC and to be able to be a part of these outings with such nice people.

By the way, if you have not paddled DeView before with DeBo and Coper yet, I assure you that your manuvering skills will be "MUCH" improved after threading through all the cypress and tupelo trees with current behind you. I have discovered muscles in my arms tonight that I never knew were there before. Thank heavens for Aleve. I have to say that Tina and Al walked away with the "best skills" award for bringing the "Barge" through some pretty tight spots. There was one attempt(by a person who will go unnamed but was captured on film) to make a pass through on a hollow tupelo tree that ended in a draw. It was a fun day and the mexican food for the grand finale was right on!!!

Nice pictures Mikki. By my GPS we traveled 5.4 miles through a very scenic section of Bayou Deview. Met a couple of new people and had lots of fun. Cowper and Debo got an A+ grade, finishing with as many participants (10) as they started with. Hmmm, at least if I counted right at the put in. You know, when there are more people than fingers I have some problems. Maybe should take off my shoes next time. Well anyway, bonus points for getting me to the take out. Here are some pictures with my point and shoot camera. I did use the zoom once though.

Nice pics Mike and Mikki. I so enjoyed my day yesterday with everyone and the scenery. Just getting out and paddling is great with great friends.
