Wattensaw or DeView Sunday 12/5

Post by DeBo » Wed Dec 01, 2010 9:22 pm

Both Bayous have gotten rain and are on the rise. Wattensaw is a sure thing but we are hoping for the opportunity to paddle DeView since it has been too dry since last spring. DeView is filling very slowly and may have enough water by Sunday.

Either way, we well meet at the T'Ricks in Hazen, exit 193 on I40 at 9:00AM. I will update Saturday night so that if we go to DeView, those coming from the east can meet us there.

Looking forward to seeing you at Rick's.

Apparently I am dyslexic or have become European. The date is December the fifth; 12/5 not 5/12 which would be May twelfth! I have corrected the mistake. Sorry for any confusion.

Minna, there is a trip scheduled next weekend also. It was originally to be on Moore Bayou at the Arkansas Post but I am switching it to Wattensaw if we do DeView this weekend, unless I hear a lot of objections. That will be Saturday December 11th.

Weather says high this Saturday 60, Sunday only 40. Any chance going Saturday instead of Sunday?

I must confess that the temperature on Saturday is much more appealing to me also. I am willing to change the date. Same meeting time and place apply.

I might be up for this Saturday or Sunday. Will watch the thread for updates. I'm thinking my 14-foot sea kayak would be appropriate. Agree?

My daughter Erin and I plan to be there. Can I assume we have changed the day to Saturday?

Yes. I checked on DeView Tuesday but it had not come up yet. Cowper had the day off today and is checking on it again. It usually takes five days to rise after a rain upstream. I will post as soon as I hear whether or not the water is there; sometime this evening.

PS Does anyone have Mikki's number? I want to make sure she has the right date. I thought is was on my phone but it's not. Send it by PM or email. Thanks

If we go to Wattensaw the long boat will be good. Bayou DeView is tight with lots of manuevering through close packed trees. You can get down it in a seakayak but a shorter boat would be a lot easier.
