LOST HANDMADE WOODEN CANOE ON ILLINOISE BAYOU!!

Post by Arkansasfiddler » Sun Nov 01, 2009 9:55 am

Some buddies and I floated the Illinois Bayou yesterday from bayou bluff to the bridge. One of my friends took his wooden canoe that he had built. He’s has taken it on a bunch of trips on different rivers but this time, about three quarters of the way down, there was a huge tree that was down in the river and he current through him into the tree roots that were sticking up out of the water. It was right above where the highway runs right along side the river. We searched and searched but couldn’t find it. We don’t think it could have got on through the next shoals without it getting stuck or us seeing it, so we think it sunk somewhere in the big pool below that tree. So if anyone is up that way or lives close by please keep an eye out for anything left of it and any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Did your buddy recover his lost canoe?

If Yes, Congratulations! :beer:

If No, would he like the license plate number of the vehicle I saw getting on the freeway at Atkins with a really nice looking wooden canoe on the roof?
:hammer:

EDIT: ONE DAY LATER, OWNER REPORTED CANOE HAS BEEN RECOVERED ON THIS THREAD: http://www.arkansascanoeclub.com/mb/vie ... 578#p93578" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Trash: Get a little every time you go!

I think many of the wooden boats I've seen are so pretty, I hope yours wasn't damaged.
