Assistance requested

I am currently preparing displays for the State Capitol interpreting the state's six National Park Service properties. To suggest the Buffalo River, I would like to include the prow of either a canoe or kayak, plus a (preferably well-worn) paddle. Since space in my display cases is limited, I'm looking for just the prow of a vessel--so, in a way, what I am looking for would be a souvenir of one of those semi-disasters that make good stories, down the line. An alternative would be a "faux" canoe section, as is sometimes used in retail display.

The exhibit will be up From September 11 through mid-November. If anyone in the LR area can lend a broken canoe or kayak, I would be very grateful.

You should definitely contact some outfitters who will likely have wounded boats laying around. Closest to LR would probably either on the Cadron (CCO) or Big Piney (Moore Outdoors).

Good idea Bill. Most all paddlers,who float long enough, come upon some 'dandy' canoe and flat-bottom boat parts scattered along the river bank on occasion. I can certainly think of many wrecks I've seen that would 'just fit the bill'. Many times, it's one end or the other of the boat, or both that survive the best, while still having that 'used look'. As a floater, there is little more to do than look at the time unless it's a salvageable boat., or pick up the remnants on a river clean-up day perhaps later.
If you find an acceptable 'boat end' and still need a rustic paddle, I have a well-used homemade cypress canoe paddle from the mid 1940s, but I'd strictly want it back afterward.

Thanks for your suggestions. I am interested in the loan of that cypress paddle, if it would be available for the fall--and yes, I _do return all loaned items. A couple of things we currently have on display, such as an early-1800s theodolite, have tempted me but...

I was fascinated with the AETN presentation some time ago about Everest(and other geographers) who used theodolites and their efforts in mapping India.
You are welcome to the paddle when you should need it. Just let me know and we'll visit further.
