Man o Man, the good ole Buffalo was a very nice and quiet place on the 4th this past weekend.
Of course, that probably had something to do with being on what I have heard described as an unpopular section for the masses by most folks perspectives.
My gal pal and I put on at gilbert and spent 2 days taking our time on down to Maumee. If we of had more time, it would have been really nice to head on down to hwy 14.
This section from gilbert to hwy 14 is one that has been a gap on my buffalo milage list for quite some time. Completing this section and from woolum to hwy 65 will have me finally completing all sections of the river.
The fishing was really good, we caught about 77 smallies, rock bass, and sunfish combined. The biggest fish were a couple of bronzebacks that measured 15 inches and weighed in around 2 lbs.
The coolest thing though, was the almost full moon at night, the emergence of millions of caddis and stone flies from the river (i have never experienced that before), and complete solitude.
What a great river.

My husband and I did Ponca to Buffalo City back in April, it was an awesome trip. I love the Buffalo too! Keith said it was one of the most relaxing trips he has ever been on.

It tooks us 7 nights 8 days. The river was up and we could do 20 miles a day easly, had the river not been it would have taken alot longer. If you get the chance I highly recommend it. We pretty much had the river to ourselves except for the weekends.
