I havn't really used it that much to be honest with you. Only once actually. It was fun and different, but less comfortable than a kayak or buffalo. It was pretty easy to pick up on, I was surfing, no swims. I'm going to take it to the Ocoee this summer and I imagine if I get good in it, it will make me a better all around boater.

SSP?

Ah, I'm special? You really mean it? You're swell. I think how wet/dry you are depends on the boater. I imagine I'd be soaked, but I see guys in their 70's who're dry.

George, 200# sholdn't be a problem in the Shaman. I surfed Spanke's on the Cadron at 200#. And it seemed like a middle of the road boat as far as wet vs. dry. It's a pretty fast boat and fun to paddle.

Have you thought about an Esquif Spark?

I have a Shaman, too, that I have paddled in whitewater several times. I think it will work for a 200 lb paddler. Don't finalize your outfitting by the directions that come with the boat. Mine refuses to catch eddies with the saddle placed as directed. I need to move it forward (and the thigh straps and the rafting foot pockets I use for toe restraints - a lot of work) when I get the time. I use the boat for trash pickups now since paddling a smaller, more maneuverable decked canoe is so much more fun.

Thanks all- I'm basically looking for a pretty hot boat but one that tracks decently and I won't fall out of each time I reach for a beer. I know at 12'7" the Shaman is considered a BIG boat but not to me.
Thanks again - Geo
