stateline river info.

Post by rickyrod » Thu Apr 23, 2009 7:59 am

per the request of some ok. boaters we are looking for additional info. on two creeks in western Sebastian county . James frk. and Rock creek . talked to some locals yesterday so far we know that there are access roads, fourwheeler trails, for put ins. on both . james fork seems to spill in to a man made resiv. that is the town of Hartfords water supply and is fenced off . upper and lower runs are possble and the gradt. is there . Need more info. on this run. if you got it. but rock creek I got the lowdown from the landowner of the prop. that rock creek flows threw after coming of Nat. forest land where it crosses hywy. 83 thats the takeout and we have permision to park on his property. his driveway runns with the river and he also told me that it's an est. ten mile float from the last crossing point up the mount. The putin. 12 miles by road. skechy fourwheeldrive road but . he would be willing to haul us up the first time on a rhino with a trailer or iv'e got the directions not hard to find the way up. he's bringing me a pic. his wife took about a week after the big rain and still had some flow to it . so this is looking pretty good. Also found someone who hunts in the nashoba erea so thats looking pretty good too. need all the help we can get . thank you . Okie boaters

good news from our ark. freinds. Just heard from a ACC member who has scouted one of the two and gave some elevation readings .seems like to us, that it's got the right stuff. so keep those feelers out there and we may have ourselfs a couple new local runs. goodones . looking for a class reading for either.

Good info, guys - thanks. On Google Earth, the spillway on that lake looks like it was under construction when imagery was taken. Might also be interesting if the lake is spilling enough...

I'm not familuar with James fk it sounds good though. I think the Rock cr I have been looking at is in Leflore county but I am not 100% sure of that. The Rock cr I have been looking at over by Talahina looks like it drops straight off the Mtn. I would think it would be more than a class III for sure. I was in the Clayton area last weekend and scouted a little bit. I am sure that Cripple cr is going to be a good one if we can get through the Nashoba hunting club gate. It was open last weekend for turkey season so I let myself in. But as I was in my element I did not get all of the way up (got to get a creekin vehicle :hammer: ). I put the number in my phone, but I wanted to talk with a few people and get a plan for what needs to be done to go forward. Cripple cr has a six (approx)mile section that is 100fpm for three of those miles. The Black fk is a large cr that has got to have something on it, again it looks like we would need to get through that gate. So Rickyrod you have aq contact at the Nashoba hunting club that is great news. What is he saying to you? Does anyone have any ideas on a strategy to get throught that gate? There are some good creeks still left over there if we can figure out the acsess issues.

Yeah, two diff Rock Creeks. Both need to be checked out. I talked to the Nashoba Hunt Club guy a year or so ago. He said I'd have to buy a membership to access the area. Don't remember the amount but it was a lot more than I was going to pay to run a creek that will run once/twice a year, at best. Might get more motivated if we could get temporary access to scout it.

Randy I just got some good/bad news about a certain fall on rock creek. you gottta hear this . don't want to post anything till i talk to you,. as for cripple,The guy I work with hunts there with his fatherinlaw who has the membership still tring to work out the whens and how' to getting in ,only when we need to by not botherring them out of nowhere(when it rains). but plan a scout day and we can check it out , if the ole fathernlaw likes the plan. no word on rockcreek but I'm LANDLOCKED this weekend so I'll get to check that one out for us ,Dirtbike style,/ If yall get a chance big creek, lwr.big creek , and the upper blakfork , have some good class III stuff right here in leflore county. the rock creek here he is refering to is very steep and need lots o rain looks to me alot like the sugerloaf slide. mabee not as steep. we will know more monday. uper blk fork was playfull yesterday at about 150 cfs.
