Well, I couldn't catch up with the steep creeking crowd yesterday, so Gretchen and I hiked down into Beech Cr. to check for tree damage from the ice storm. The trail down is a mess, but the creek has no visible ice damage at the put in. Looks like it is good to go, with just "normal" trees in it. Spread the word.
Oh, and it was at a very runnable level when we hiked down to it at 5:00 PM. Definitely could have had an Easter run on Beech if we'd have known that it was tree-free...

Beech Creek Open For Business!
Re: Beech Creek Open For Business!
that's what I thought about Richland so far as what had been said about the ice damage being above the creek-bed elevation level. But, when I paddled it, there were many trees down close to the creek that are gonna be a problem when it floods and moves things around. I'd be extremely careful with Beech on the first run since the ice storm.
Re: Beech Creek Open For Business!
Great point from Tomcat. Be real careful on all ozark creeks that were in the ice storm area. Trees will be shuffling around for a long time.
