What is the bright star/planet midway up in the early morning southeastern sky? It's about 110 degrees and doesn't appear to rise or set. First thought it was Venus, but discovered my error.

you're probably seeing jupiter.

in binoculars, planets appear as discs and stars are points. also, with any kind of magnification you should be able to see 4 of jupiters moons (if they aren't in front or behind jupiter)

Thanks! If I'd put my glasses on I'd prolly be able to see it was a planet...bu-ut at 3 a.m. I'm not that bright.
