Monday, President's Day

Post by Paddlegal » Tue Feb 10, 2009 10:43 am

Sharkattack is taking me paddling monday on the Buff. Please join us! The only thing that will stop me is

Cold

Rain

P.S. Wes do you have an extra kayak i can borrow? There's a young man here at work that wants to try kayaking, i thought i would bring him along. I can always borrow one from Moose but if you have one up there it would be easier.

Sure Connie, not a problem. Let me know what size a pfd he's going to need.

The plans as of now are:

-Meet at Tyler Bend with smiles & hugs. :)

-Paddle down the river with big smiles. :D

-Take out with bigger smiles :clap:

Wes,

Daniel is 6' tall and weights 175. He's not got a MASSIVE chest, but he's no wimp either. So what size do you think?

Where do you plan to take out down from Tyler Bend? What Class flow do you expect?

Wes, Mikeark

The flow is looking really good from the guages I see. Since the river is moving so fast, do you think we could do a longer run? Woolum to Baker maybe?

Wes, I'll accept the boat and the life jacket, I have a paddle and perhaps a wetsuit that is going to fit Daniel. What kind of boat are you loaning us? Daniel has never paddled before.

Mikeark--you are welcome and i'm sure we can work out a shuttle somehow!

weird===== I had chinese food today and my fortune cookie says

:shock: "Boats and water are in your future, have fun!" :clap:

I KID YOU NOT, IT REALLY SAYS THAT, WOW!!

I'm watching the river level & temperature right now. I'm bringing a 12 yo boy who's a little too fearless.

I'll probably bring the red Perception Lance used to paddle. It's super stable & easy to get in & out of, plus if something happens to it....no problem.

I guess Painter Bob & Eric are just a little too busy working on their career paths to join us :poke:

Is this a day trip? I may be interested in Woolum to Baker. But I would probably make it an overnighter

Richard, we usually just do a day trip, but would be glad to have you along as far as you want to paddle. These trips with Connie are ususally about a day of quiet decompression 8)

Yes Richard, I would love to have you join us, but, if you're camping out alone, just bring the dogs with you. I love dogs and these folks are animal friendly too!

Here's what the weather should be doing:

And the water:

Upper (Ponca gauge) http://waterdata.usgs.gov/ar/nwis/uv?cb ... o=07055646" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Middle (Hwy 65 gauge) http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv/?site_no=07056000" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Lower (Hwy 14 gauge) http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?cb_00 ... o=07056700" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That's okay by me Wes. I'm going to the Caddo with Jim Saturday. We haven't talked the plan yet, and he's in camden all day today.

by the way, I have NOBODY's phone # now, got a tracfone,

I am at 5012659644 and home phone is 5018429510 and email at home is cdggraham@yahoo.com

If noaa changes their minds about the temps, I will go to the buff monday. I'll watch the weather and you guys stay in touch with me via here or email.

55 degrees or higher by noon on monday will put me on the river.
